Chamber unveils its small firm seminars

The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) has announced the start of its 2014 Small Business Seminar Series with the launch of its first event, ‘Entrepreneurship 101’, set for February 20 at its headquarters from 9am to 4pm.

The one-day course will teach the basics of entrepreneurship. Participants will learn how to assess their own entrepreneurial capabilities; outline and evaluate a business and product idea; identify their target market and customers; develop a value proposition; understand different types of business ownership and structures; and create key business planning documents.

The Chamber’s second vice-president and chairman of the Small Business Development and Education Committee, Billie Bowe, will lead the seminar.

“Any thriving economy is fuelled by the sustainability of small and medium-sized businesses. Bahamians now, more than ever, should consider starting their own businesses,” Ms Bowe said.

She added that participants will have the opportunity to consider if entrepreneurship is right for them and learn the essential steps of creating their own business.

Orgainsers are suggesting that interested persons register early. The cost of the one-day seminar is $50 for Chamber members and $75 for non-Chamber members. This includes a continental breakfast, course materials and a Certificate of Completion awarded by Benchmark Consulting Services.
