Two airlifted after shooting accident

Two male residents of Grand Cay, including an 18-year-old, were airlifted to Grand Bahama following a shooting incident late Friday evening.

The teen was shot in the legs and the second man was beaten about the body. Their injuries were not life-threatening.

According to police reports, around 11pm, a group of men were involved in an altercation near a local bar. One man got a shotgun and opened fire, hitting the teen in both legs.

Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that a 23-year-old man was beaten up during an altercation.

She said both men were taken to the clinic in Grand Cay, and were later airlifted to Grand Bahama for further medical treatment.

Ms Pinder said police recovered the shotgun.

• In other crime news, a woman was robbed at knifepoint at her residence in Freeport on Friday.

According to reports, sometime after 10pm, police received a call from a resident in the Heritage Subdivision who reported that she was just robbed by a man.

The woman told police that the culprit was wearing a stocking over his face and was armed with a knife.

He took the victim’s purse which contained $160 cash, a cell phone valued at $250, and other personal items.

Inspector Pinder said police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist police with their investigation to call 350-3107/8, 911/919 or their nearest police station.
