Internet provider to offer 'pay as you go'

A wireless Internet Service Provider (ISP) yesterday said it plans to offer the Bahamas’ first ever ‘Pay as You Go’ residential Internet service.

Bahamas Wimax chief executive Matthew Carey said that, after months of testing and development: “We are pleased to announce that we have added two brand new service offerings to our lineup, MAX Lite and MAX Basic, with monthly rates as low as $14.95 ”

Bahamas WiMax’s two metered plans give the customer the option of paying for only the Internet they need. Each plan comes with a base amount of usage, and customers can purchase additional usage based on their need.

Mr Carey said the new Internet plans will be available in all locations currently served by Bahamas WiMax, which include Abaco, New Providence and Exuma, with Eleuthera and Grand Bahama starting later in the year.

“This is just another example of how we are bringing leading edge technology and value to our customers,” Mr Carey added.

Bahamas WiMax aims to provide carrier-grade data and telecommunications service as an alternative to wire-based utilities. Presently serving New Providence, Abaco and Exuma, it offers a variety of fast, secure solutions.
