Rodney Moncur was acquitted this morning in Magistrates Court in the 'grossly indecent' picture posting case brought against him by police 10 months ago.
Moncur told The Tribune on the steps of the Nassau and South Streets complex that Justice was done today and he called on Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade to resign from his post for bringing such a charge against him.
Moncur had been charged with posting “grossly indecent” pictures on his Facebook page.
The photographs were of the body of Jamie Smith - a man whom Moncur claims to be a relative of - who had died in police custody.

Why is the Tribune not reporting what was said in court. Mr Muncur accused the COP of gansterism. That is a serious charge against the COP. The Tribune should report it - as it is covered by privileged law - and request a response from Mr. Greenslade.

No fan of Moncur and his antics but fair is fair. If he was charged the posting of grossly indecent pictures why were the officers who did the same with that gruesome case of the murder of a woman not charged? They were even worse in that the Police report was in the photos. If my memory serves me correctly the COP said it was at his discretion if the officers were to be charged. I can't remember anyone standing trial. So the COP has a lot of explaining to do. Mr. Moncur can be confrontational and a bit over the top at times. But I agree with him that the COP cannot selectively bring charges when he himself has allowed members of his own organization a free pass having done the same thing.

Good for our justice system to have recognized these charges for what they really are. Arrested and thrown in prison until he could post his $7,500 bail money. People who are charged with serious crimes may not have to post no $7,500 bail. What exactly was the serious crime is was alleged Comrade committed? All for standing next to the body of a dead person, who sure as hell didn't complain to no policeman's.

This speaks to our police and judicial system. I agree with Mr. Moncur that the charges should never have been brought against him. As he put it simply if the police had asked him to remove the photos, he would have removed them. But the test was that he had his day in court and was freed of the charges. While many may not agree with his methods, Mr. Moncur speaks out for many of those who are down trodden and treaded on in this country. Hence he becomes n enemy of the state.

Boy they have balls here to try punish people. That was his own family and he was showing what happened. What has been grossly indecent forever is how local newsstand papers put car accident deaths on the front page with people laying anyway, legs spread, despicable. Or head burst open from motorcycle accident random individuals sharing it in chain email.
I could understand public and real time things being shown on ppl's own fb where I opted to follow or must go and find it on a page. But professional news and stuff on display in public stands or tv, deal with that mess.
So much wrong in this, this issue isn't over.

RM shouldnt have been put before the courts .... period
Now we have a case that will set a precedent for online privacy etc.

It was a waste of court time and resources.Now I see why we have a backlog of cases. It was a political witch hunt that was not based on the laws of the country. The crime here is the attempt by the state to silence one of it's citizens.
