A BAHAMIAN content marketing start-up is offering small businesses the opportunity to increase their exposure and maximise advertising dollars, its founder telling Tribune Business yesterday that their platform could cut marketing costs “in half”.

“We wanted to get local businesses that want to get online, or are interested in diving into content marketing, the opportunity to tell me what their budget is, what they an afford, and I will try and work around that budget,” said Nadia Williams, founder of The Little Cloud Company.

Ms Williams said that while consumers were now largely ignoring traditional online advertisements, content marketing - when done correctly - increases traffic to a business’s website, resulting in higher conversions, decreased advertising costs and increased sales.

“Content marketing is basically just taking information and repackaging it in a way that makes it more interesting to customers,” she added.

“Businesses are doing that now by writing e-books, and by info-graphics, for instance. What a business would do is hire a content creator like myself. Let’s say an auto mechanic wants to get more people through the door. Instead of sending out ads, what he would do is get someone like myself to write a lot of articles that would appeal to people who need a mechanic, or he might ask for an info-graphic about how to change a tyre.”

Ms Williams said these visual formats, which make the information more appealing, are then distributed online, where they create a stream of unlimited free advertising for clients each time they are shared.

“A lot of advertising is still being done the old way,” she said. “People aren’t paying attention to ads online as they used to, but they are paying attention to information if it is presented well.

“What we are doing now is just a way of of letting companies try our services without spending a lot of money, particularly those without a massive marketing budget. If they have a marketing budget, we can cut that budget in half.”

Ms Williams said The Little Cloud Company, which consists of a four member team and freelancers when necessary, is keen on offering affordable pricing and original content.

The company she said, alleviates the burden of social media management and maintaining a website, giving businesses more time and flexibility to focus on operations.
