THIS Friday, a group of Bahamian Christians will come together to launch a Christ-centered clothing line called ‘The God Squad’.

God Squad Universal (GSU) is an organisation of active believers of the Christian faith whose desire is to “change the culture” through ministry, media and business.

Calling it the “best attire to show off your faith,” the God Squad team will display their new collection at the Chapel on the Hill, Harold Road, beginning at 7 pm.

Participants include God Squad founder and singer Shaquille “Young Rev” Hanna, vice-president Tristan Gaim, business manager Nathaniel Butler, accountant Candice Hanna, brand manager/ recording artist Schvonne “Mck” Mckinney, sales director/recording artist Darren “Heavy Metal” Sears, videographer Lanthro Munroe, graphic designer Johnathan Skinner, and social media manager/recording artist Ricardo “Professa” Saunders.

In an interview with Tribune Religion, Darren Sears said they will also be launching a programme that will expand the team membership in about a month’s time.

“Our mission is not to conform to this world, but change the culture by becoming influential in our community while integrating the kingdom principles to achieve a better world,” he said.
In creating the new clothing label, Mr Sears said they were inspired by the creativity of God, and with this effort they plan to not only reach Christians, but non-believers as well.

“We would always think about ways to share our faith without having to invite people to church or speak from a pulpit. The clothing line also came about as a personal solution to a lot of believers because there was always talk about being saved and having to still wear the same opposing messages and themes,” he said.

“So as culture changers we decided to do something about it.”

Under the theme, “God Squad Genesis Collection’, Mr Sears said the upcoming launch will be an exciting mix of fashion, entertainment and art.

“There will be a surprise start that you have to see. There will also be a comedian by the name of Manley Wilson performing; we guarantee he will have you on the floor laughing or you can have your money back,” he said.

As for how far he sees the clothing line going in the future, Mr Sears said Christ told them to go out into the world and preach the Gospel.

“In God Squad Universal, we take that literally. We have decided in our heart, plans and documents that we will take it that far. By the year 2019, people can expect for it to be a international stamp in clothing,” he said.

For the remainder of the year, Mr Sears said the God Squad will have a slate of unique and exciting events going on that include four different clothing collections; one for each season.
“There will also be some new national music releases by Young Rev and Mck. The most exciting release for us will be a programme that we will release next month called the God Squad Culture Changers. With this, we will give to persons within the community who are changing the culture or persons who aspire to a platform where we can work together and bring about real manifested change in a number of situations. All of it will be in an effort to make a better Bahamas and a better world at large,” he said.
