National association celebrates black history

THE National Association of the Bahamas recently celebrated Black History Month by presenting the Documentary “Womanish Ways” at the Florida Memorial University in Miami Florida.

The documentary is the story of the Women’s Suffrage Movement in the Bahamas and was written by Bahamian author Marion Bethel.

Members of the Bahamian community in South Florida turned out for the presentation of the documentary, which was introduced by Mrs Ruby Ann Cooper Darling, the first Bahamian woman to register to vote in an election in the Bahamas.
