JUNIOR PLAYERS

QUALIFY

THE Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association congratulated Rasheed Carey, Christian Cargill and Justin Roberts on meeting the qualifying standard to compete in this year’s Australian Open Junior Championships which is the first Grand Slam event for 2014. Carey, Cargill and Roberts have ITF rankings of 195, 217 and 236 respectively to begin the year.

While she did not sign up for the tournament, Simone Pratt, ranked at 190, would also have qualified for this year’s Australian Open Junior Championships.

There also are several other juniors in striking distance to gain access into higher level tournaments, including Philip Major Jr (405), Treajh Ferguson (663) and Dominique Mortier (1,306).

BLTA also recognises other juniors who currently have ITF points, including Iesha Shepherd (1,639), Gabriela Donaldson (1,837) and Erin Strachan (1948).

With continued dedication and hard work, the Bahamas will hear more from these players and other juniors who are striving to compete at the highest levels of competition internationally or obtain their first ITF points.

With respect to the Australian Open, these players may not make the trip “Down Under” because of the long travel required but we expect to see them actively participating in the other upcoming Grand Slam events for juniors during 2014.

The BLTA wishes all junior tennis players much success during 2014.
