17-year-old in hospital after being stabbed in street

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy is recovering in hospital after being stabbed while walking home on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4pm while the teen was walking on College Avenue in Oaks Field.

He got into an altercation with another boy, which resulted in his being stabbed in the back.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

In other crime news, swift action by police has resulted in the arrest of two men, ages 25 and 24, during a break-in at a business early Thursday morning.

The incident took place at around 2am.

Police say they received a report of a break-in in progress at Port Delmar off Prince Charles Drive. When they arrived on the scene they found the two men there.

They were taken into custody for questioning as the officers feel they may have information relevant to the investigation.

Police also arrested 16 persons in an overnight operation.

These included one arrest for threats of death, two arrests for possession of dangerous drugs and 13 arrests for outstanding criminal warrants.

In addition, 56 citations were issued to drivers for various traffic infractions.

IN BRIEF

DRUG Enforcement Unit officers reported detaining a 28-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man in connection with the discovery of a firearm yesterday.

Police say shortly after 8am, a team of DEU officer executed a search warrant on a home in Milton Street and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

The pair are being questioned as police believe they may have information that is relevant to the investigation.
