THE pat-down of Alec Baldwin’s five-month-old daughter at the Sir Lynden Pindling International Airport, blamed by the movie star on US transport officials, was actually conducted by a Bahamian agency, according to an NBC News report.

Tweeting after flying from New Providence to New York, Mr Baldwin accused the Transport Security Administration (TSA) of selecting his infant Carmen for a random search.

“Flying from Nassau, Bahamas 2 NY. TSA ‘random selects’ my 5-month-old daughter 4 a pat down. I am not kidding,” read his tweet, followed by the hashtag: #travelinginUSisadisgrace.

However, according to the NBC report by contributor Randee Dawn, a senior Department of Homeland Security official said the TSA does not conduct screenings in the Bahamas.

Screenings at LPIA, he said, are overseen by the Nassau Airport Authority, which had not responded to a request for comment before the article was published.

The article said the TSA official explained that “the TSA does not pat down children under 12.”

This story is foolishness, a plane leaving the country going in to the U.S and the search is being done by a Bahamian agency.

Yes...the security procedures are done by Bahamian airport security not American.

I am certain that US officials give instructions to whomever is actually doing the job for the The United States of America. There is no way that an officer of American Homeland Security is going to give anyone else the discretion as to who to search.

Well my infant was selected for a random search and was subjected to a pat down as well...............whats the big deal? Do you think criminals would hesitate using children to smuggle contraband HA! Everytime my family travels even the baby's thermos contents are tested to ensure it does contin illegal or hazardous materials.....Come on dude you are not above rules and regulations where safety is concerned.
