First J B Farrington Living Legend Tennis Open all set

THE Carmichael Athletic Community Centre is scheduled to host the first J Barrie Farrington Living Legend Tennis Open July 18-26. The tennis event will feature the men’s open singles, ladies’ open singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.

All proceeds from the event will de donated in aid of the Carmichael Athletic Community Centre Sports Programme. The event is named in honour of J Barrie Farrington for his long-standing contributions to tennis as a player, executive and philanthropist.

While known for his involvement in the hospitality industry, Farrington’s participation in sports spans six decades in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

During a special ceremony on Saturday evening, the organising committee will honour two living tennis legends in Robert ‘Uncle Bob’ Isaacs and Edith Powell, true pioneers in the development of tennis in the Bahamas, the Caribbean and indeed the world. Tennis players, enthusiasts and those interested in supporting a worthy cause are asked to sign up at the Carmichael Athletic Community Centre.

Entry forms will be available at the Community Centre in Flamingo Gardens, the Gym Tennis Club and the National Tennis Centre. Tennis matches are set to get underway on Friday with first round singles matches in the men’s open division at the athletic community centre in Flamingo Gardens.
