Public help sought after armed robberies

POLICE are seeking the public’s help in solving two separate armed robberies that occurred on Monday.

In the first incident, shortly before 8pm, a man armed with a handgun robbed a convenience store located on Hanna Road of an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly after 8pm, two men armed with handguns robbed a restaurant located on Bernard Road of an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in a silver coloured vehicle.

Police later found a vehicle fitting the description abandoned off Soldier Road.

Investigations are continuing.

HANDGUN SEIZED BY DEU OFFICERS

Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) officers seized a handgun with a quantity of ammunition at Yellow Elder Gardens on Monday.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

According to reports, shortly before 6pm, DEU officers, acting on intelligence, went to an abandoned building located at Melvern Road, Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered the handgun.

SHOOTING

POLICE are seeking the public’s help in solving a shooting incident that occurred on Monday.

According to reports, shortly after 5pm, a man was on Mackey Street south, when a another man armed with a handgun shot him in the leg, then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.
