NEARLY 4,000 Cable Bahamas customers were left without service for hours on Sunday due to a downed utility pole on Prince Charles Drive.

According to a press release from Cable Bahamas, a car accident near Marco’s Pizza which occurred early yesterday led to a pole being knocked down.

A total of 27 neighbourhoods and just over 3,900 subscribers were impacted by the outage, Cable Bahamas said.

Yesterday afternoon, workers from the Bahamas Electricity Corporation were on site working to replace the damaged pole.

The damaged pole was reportedly replaced before 3.15pm yesterday, with a Cable Bahamas crew working on repairs and restoration services throughout the day.

Up to press time, Cable Bahamas said customers would start getting their services restored by 4pm, with full restoration to all areas affected expected to be complete by midnight.

Some customers took to social media yesterday to express their displeasure over the issue while a resident of the Winton area called The Tribune to express her frustration over the issue.

The woman, who did not want to be named, criticised Cable Bahamas’ phone operators for not being able to say when their services would be restored.

In its statement, the company said: “Cable Bahamas apologises for the inconvenience caused to its subscribers by this incident, which is, unfortunately, beyond the control of the company.”
