CDC Power to Make Difference mid-day celebration

UNDER the theme ‘Power to Make a Difference’, Senior Pastor James Newry and his wife, Queenie Newry, along with the family of Calvary Deliverance Church will commemorate the advent of God upon the servants of Christ during a special mid-day session slated for Whit Monday at 12.30pm at the sanctuary on East Street South.

“The main purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to empower us to do the work of Christ on the Earth as demonstrated by the Apostle Peter whose bold preaching resulted in some 3,000 persons converting to Christ on the Day of Pentecost”, said Pastor Newry. The senior pastor said in his view the church of today needs more of such occurrences, as seen in Acts 1:8 where the power of God is boldly demonstrated, if it is going to effectively impact the present generation in the way that the church of yesteryear did.

The Calvary Deliverance Church said it hopes the upcoming service will demonstrate that the same awesome Holy Ghost power that was poured into the followers of Christ more than 2,000 years ago is still readily available to believers today.

The special service takes its inspiration from Mark 16, which states: “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

The service’s organisers are of the view that there should be more expression of God’s influence here on Earth through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Speakers for the occasion will be Elders Lena Pratt and Jason McPhee and the Calvary Deliverance Church praise team and Junkanoo combo will lead attendees in praise and worship.

The Fine Arts Ministry will minister in dance.
