Two men shot

TWO men were shot in separate incidents and taken to hospital on Tuesday, police said.

The first victim was shot shortly before 4pm while at his business on Claridge Road in the Ridgeland Mall plaza. Police said the victim, 63, was held up by a man with a handgun who entered his business and tried to rob him.

“After the victim told the gunman that he had no money, the gunman shot the victim to the leg and fled on foot,” Supt Stephen Dean said in a statement.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The second victim was shot shortly before 7pm.

Police said the 35-year-old resident of Nassau Village was sitting outside a business on Baillou Hill Road South playing a game of dominoes with a group of men, when three men in a silver coloured Nissan Primera vehicle pulled up armed with handguns.

The victim attempted to leave, but was shot in his chest and under his arm by one of the men, police said. The three suspects then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is detained in serious condition.

Police are also investigating three armed robberies that occurred on Tuesday.

The first robbery happened just before 2pm. Police said the victim was standing outside the Town Centre Mall when a man armed with a handgun robbed him of a number of cheque books and sped off in a white coloured Honda.

The second robbery happened just before 3pm. Police said three men armed with a high-powered weapon robbed a business on Wulff Road of an undetermined amount of cash. They fled on foot.

Shortly before 4pm, a woman was robbed while in the parking lot of the Prince Charles Shopping Centre. Police said a man armed with a handgun robbed her of her handbag containing cash before fleeing in a white coloured Honda.

Investigations are continuing.
