POLICE in Abaco are investigating an apparent drowning on the island that has left a 63-year-old American citizen dead.
According to reports, a group of Americans were snorkelling in waters at Mermaid Beach, Pelican Shores in Marsh Harbour around noon on Monday when one man failed to resurface.
Inspector Terecita Pinder said the victim was recovered from underwater by another man. She said CPR was performed on the victim, but there was no response. Police and medical emergency personnel were notified and responded, but the man was pronounced dead by a doctor at the Marsh Harbour Clinic.
Inspector Pinder said police are actively investigating the matter.
