Bank celebrates six years in Cat Island

CELEBRATIONS to mark six years of the Bank of The Bahamas (BOB) branch in Cat Island has given executives the opportunity to emphasise the shift of focus from international expansion to local growth.

A number of special events, including a business reception, community sponsorships and an appreciation day for customers, were held to mark the anniversary on June 4. Head Office representatives also visited the branch in New Bight.

Nicole Holder, BOB’s Manager of Sales and Service, told customers that with increasingly complex regulatory changes occurring globally, in the past year BOB decided to shift its focus from international expansion to local growth and has changed its vision statement to reflect this shift.

“Today as we celebrate the sixth anniversary of the establishment of Cat Island Branch, we are committed to becoming ‘the best and most respected financial enterprise in The Bahamas’. Service excellence, staff development and relationship building with personalised solutions for customers and innovative products and services will be the building blocks for our success,” Mrs Holder said.

She invited customers to visit BOB’s recently launched corporate website for a current and comprehensive overview of products and services, including personal and corporate banking solutions as well as private banking and trust services.

Letitia Brown, officer-in-charge of Cat Island branch, thanked customers for their business and predicted continued community development through partnership.

“We value and appreciate your business over the past six years and we look forward to strengthening this relationship. As the bank continues to improve and find innovative solutions to meet your financial needs, together we expect to bring about positive change in our community and experience growth and development in Cat Island,” Ms Brown said.

The bank presented a cheque for $1,750 to sponsor the Battle of The Bands at the Rake and Scrape Festival and promised support of $2,000 to provide textbooks for disadvantaged children at Cat Island’s Old Bight Library.
