POLICE arrested a 33-year-old man who is suspected of an attempted sexual assault and stabbing that took place last Thursday.

The man is suspected of breaking into the home of a woman in the Sea Breeze community around 6:30pm.

“She was home when a male came into the house and allegedly attacked her and caused some serious injuries to her in the process,” head of the Central Detective Unit Superintendant Paul Rolle said yesterday.

The suspect fled the area, presumably on foot. Mr Rolle said police believe robbery was the motive for the attack. He added that help from the public led to the suspect’s arrest. According to reports, shortly after 4pm on Saturday officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence went to a motel located on East Street South, where they arrested the suspect in connection with this incident. The suspect is a resident of Garden Hills.

THREE men are in hospital after they were stabbed during a fight at a night club on Saturday, police said.

Police were told that a fight broke out shortly after 1am at a night spot on Elizabeth Avenue which resulted in three men being stabbed.

The victims were taken to hospital where they are detained in stable condition.
