Environment and Housing Minister Kenred Dorsett left Nassau on June 15 to attend the Our Ocean Conference 2014 in Washington, DC.
The conference is hosted by US Secretary of State John Kerry who delivered opening remarks yesterday morning. One of the specific topics to be covered at the conference is that of ocean acidification which is the effect of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions on the ocean. These CO2 emissions also contribute to global warming. Other topics to be discussed are sustainable fisheries and marine pollution.
The minister is expected back today.
