Abilities Unlimited. - A patio and rummage sale will be held by Abilities Unlimited on Saturday, June 28, at Dolphin Drive, behind the BTC head office on JFK drive. The event will run from 7-11am and will feature books, ceramics, appliances, new/used clothing, used furniture, handbags, shoes and bargains galore. Grand Bahama Road Cycling Championships. - The countdown is on to the eighth Grand Bahama Road Cycling Championships! Less than two weeks await the crowning of the next Road Cycling Champion for Grand Bahama.... who will it be?

We’ve all read the “Build Up” before. The throwing out of names. The mentioning of the likes of Chad “The Tank” Albury, Anthony “Biggie” Colebrooke, Jay “Beastmode” Major, Angelo “Superman” Sturrup, Vicki “The Indomitable” Stafford and the list could go on, but we won’t go into that list today.

Kiwanis Club. - The Kiwanis Club of Cable Beach unveiled the club sign at its meeting location at Casuarinas of Cable Beach on Wednesday, June 11. The opening prayer was given by Distinguished President Winston, with remarks by President Joan Knowles-Turnquest and remarks and cutting of the Ribbon by Kiwanis Eastern Canada and Caribbean, Division 22 Lieutenant Governor Christine King. President Joan Knowles Turnquest on behalf of Netica Symonette (Nettie) made a presentation at The Roy Davis House.

Presidents Verinquie Cunningham and members from the Fort Montagu, President Lorna Lightbourne New Providence Club and members, President Eric Adderley Over the Hill and members, Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Sandra Munnings and Past President Deborah Mckinney secretary for the Roy Davis House were there to share in the unveiling.

Kiwanis Club of Cable Beach meets every Wednesday 7:30pm at Casuarinas of Cable Beach. All are welcome.

Rotary Club of East Nassau. - The 13th annual Harbourside marine East Nassau Rotary Tuna Tournament was a great success. 12 boats participated in the two day tournament and weighed-in at either Spanish Wells, Schooner Bay Abaco, or Nassau. Top prizes were awarded for Tuna, dolphin, wahoo, and snapper/grouper categories along with top lady angler and top junior angler. The overall tournament winner was Patrick Waugh on team “Rake ’N Scrape” with a 66.70 lb Yellowfin Tuna.

Cycling Club Bahamas. - In case members are wondering what is done with the Membership Dues, Enjoy! Cycling Club Bahamas & Cycles Unlimited Ltd have just donated a new bike & John Cox designed 40th Anniversary Bahamas Jerseys to The NPCA Junior Programme – the junior who will ride the new bike with new equipment is D’Angelo Sturrup. D’Angelo has been fitted with a new Jamis Xenith Comp Road Bike 61cm (at over 6’ tall, previously he rode a 51cm bike)! D’Angelo will be a part of the Bahamas National Cycling Team which will participate in the Commonwealth Games in Scotland in July 2014. We wish the team all the best! Way to give back, members. Weekly events - including Saturdays which are rockin’ it out - are:

Morning rides west - Wednesdays & Fridays at 4:45am, Goodman’s Bay, West Bay Street, 20-mile ride route, East to Montague and return, one-hour duration. Cyclists capable of 14+MPH welcome anywhere along the route. Contact Shantell the day before to confirm your attendance: shorelinecargo@gmail.com.

Afternoon rides west - Tuesdays and Thursdays, leaving 5:30pm sharp, parking lot next to Lyford Cay Gas Station. 18 or 24 miles depending if you do second loop. This is an advanced cyclist’s ride. The pace will range from 20+mph.

Morning ride east - Tuesdays & Thursdays, leaving 5:00am sharp, start/end Seagrapes Shopping Centre under the big sign, East Prince Charles Drive: 1-1.5 hour duration, all-level cyclists welcome - Prince Charles Dr-Eastern Road-Shirley St-Church St-East Bay-Eastern Road-Prince Charles. Please have lights attached.

Weekend rides Saturday – leaving 6:00am sharp from Harbour Bay Shopping Centre in front of First Caribbean Bank, 30 miles headed west. It is recommended that you have done some recent cycling. Leaving P/I Bridges optional at the beginning/end. The pace will range from 18–20+mph, two to three-hour duration

Sunday - leaving 6:00am sharp from Harbour Bay Shopping Centre in front of First Caribbean Bank, 40-50 miles headed east. This ride is not recommended if you have not cycled recently or first timers. P/I Bridges optional at the end. The pace will range from 18–20+mph, 3-3.5 hour duration (intermediate and advanced cyclists welcome to join anywhere along the route).
