BAHAMAS Electricity Corporation Executive Chairman Leslie Miller said yesterday that an image of an outstanding electricity bill in his name that was circulating on the Internet yesterday was “manufactured”.

His comments came after an image of a bill, reportedly belonging to a family member of his, surfaced on social media. The image – a screen shot of a computer screen purportedly inside BEC – showed a bill of $17,683.13. The bill is dated June 18.

Speaking with The Tribune, Mr Miller said the “so called bill” was manufactured “just like the Princess Margaret Hospital (letter) for Dame Marguerite Pindling”.

When asked if he intended to launch an investigation into the source of the bill, Mr Miller said it would not make sense.

“This again? When will these people stop? There is no bill. They will do what they want to do, make up what they want to make up, I can’t be bothered with it. I don’t intend to do anything, there is nothing I can do,” he said when contacted for comment.

“This is unethical and today it’s me, tomorrow it could be anyone, but we will never find out who is doing this. One person will cover up for the next. When this happened last year, we thought we had them, but it was a waste of time. This is total garbage. They could do what they want to me, I don’t care.”

Mr Miller has said he is being attacked by disgruntled BEC employees and union leaders who have launched an “all out war against him” in an effort to have him fired because he is trying to make changes at the corporation.

Last week, it was revealed that Mr Miller and one of his family-owned businesses owed the corporation a total of $239,533.33.

A few days later, $100,000 was paid on a bill for his family’s Harrold Road bowling alley.

In a press statement released yesterday, FNM Chairman Darron Cash questioned the source of the $100,000 cash that was used to pay the bowling alley’s bill.

“The chairman has yet—as far as we understand—to explain the source of the $100,000 cash payment. Until he is able to explain himself the money should be returned. And no, money is not money,” Mr Cash said.

Mr Cash also questioned if police are investigating allegations of irregular electricity hookups at the Summer Winds Plaza, which is owned by Mr Miller. He called on Prime Minister Perry Christie to give a full account of what he knows about the allegations.

Mr Miller has denied “assisting anyone in getting free electricity” and facilitating irregular hookups at his Summer Winds Plaza complex.

Earlier this week documents began circulating on the Internet, claiming that Mr Miller allowed the End Zone Sporting Lounge to have an illegal direct connection. The sporting lounge is located in the Summer Winds Plaza.

However, when contacted by The Tribune, Mr Miller said the moment he discovered the sporting lounge was hooked up illegally, he spoke with the owner and told him the problem needed to be resolved immediately.

Actually Miller admitted helping his tenant get free electricity. he said clearly he allowed the tenant to keep the power on over night and told him to come to BEC the next day to sign up. He even said he didn't cut the power because the tenant had a "function" that night..

So Leslie let him get free power for all the days leading up and for that night for his function. What should have happened is the guy's power was supposed to be cut off and he was supposed to be taken away in handcuffs. Right there on the spot......

Get it right Tribune!!

Yeah, and come to think of it Leslie Pindling (son of Mrs Ping) never served a day in Fox Hill Prison for all that marijuana he was caught with as a drug dealer when the police arrested him. Christie is as corrupt as they come....one law for them and another law for us poor dumb peasant voters of the kind Fred Mitchell does not want to stand next to while taking a pee for fear someone will notice his little tail!
