TWO men appeared in Magistrates Court yesterday accused of committing separate murders that occurred days apart in February.

In the first of two arraignments before Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt, 32-year-old Michelet Auguste of Mt Tabor Estates stood facing a murder charge in connection with the February 12th shooting death of Charles Pandy at his home in Winders Terrace.

Around 7.30pm on the day in question, Pandy was sitting in his yard when he was approached by a man who pulled out a handgun and shot him several times in the chest.

Pandy attempted to run into his neighbour’s yard for help but collapsed. The shooter ran on foot in an unknown direction.

The 36-year-old was taken to hospital by his family and friends in a private vehicle but was pronounced dead at 8.30pm.

Due to the nature of the offence, Auguste was not required to enter a plea at this time. He will be allowed to enter a plea when formally arraigned in Supreme Court to receive a date for trial.

However, his case isn’t expected to be fast-tracked to the higher court until May 20 when he is served with a Voluntary Bill of Indictment facilitating that move.

In the next arraignment, 20-year-old Edward Johnson, of Fleming Street, stood accused of the February 25 murder of Troy Bodie.

Around 9.40am on the day in question, police arrived at Panza Court near Market Street to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds in an incident claimed to be a “retaliation” attack.

Both were taken to hospital, but Bodie succumbed to his injuries shortly before 9pm.

Johnson is also scheduled to have his case fast-tracked to the Supreme Court in May in his reappearence before Chief Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt.

Both he and Auguste were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison without bail.
