Woman's body found buried

A BODY, believed to be that of a woman, was found in a “makeshift grave” near Cowpen Road yesterday, Police Superintendent Paul Rolle said.

Reports from relatives at the scene suggested the body was that of Nyoshi Adderley, who was last seen on February 22 and has been the subject of a missing person alert, but police are completing the identification process before giving any confirmation.

Miss Adderley has a young daughter.

“Around 3pm, officers from CDU came to a location on Cowpen Road, a quarter of a mile from the main road where they found a shallow, makeshift grave with the body of an individual that appears to be that of a female,” said Supt Rolle.

Police said it appears that the body was decomposing for over two weeks at the time of the discovery.

Mr Rolle added that officials have “some ideas” about who the identity of the deceased person could be, but he said they cannot comment on the matter until DNA tests have been completed.

The tests, he said, could take up to a few weeks for final results.

No further details about the deceased were released up to press time last night.
