Man wanted in connection with attempted murder

THE police have issued an appeal for help in tracking down a man wanted in connection with attempted murder.

George Nottage, 30, of Sumner Street in Nassau Village, is wanted for questioning.

He is described as having dark brown skin, is slim and stands about 5ft 11in to 6ft in height.

An alert was also sent out for a missing girl, but it is understood she is now safe at home. Police could not confirm that at the time of going to press.

Police have also arrested a 17-year-old boy after he was found in possession of ammunition on Wednesday at about 7pm, when officers executed a search warrant at a local motel on East Street South.

A police operation carried out in the Southwestern division under the command of Superintendent Mary Mitchell on tuesday saw six men arrested. One was arrested for murder, one for threats of death, one for theft of a motorcycle, and two for housebreaking and stealing.

In a separate operation, 25 people were arrested by mobile division officers - one for threats of death, two for stealing, two for possession of dangerous drugs, four for outstanding criminal complaints and 17 for outstanding warrants. A further 61 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.

A further five people have been arrested by the Flying Squad following a shooting on Wednesday.

According to reports, shortly after midnight, a man was talking to two men at Redland Acres off Soldier Road when he was shot in the arm. He is in stable condition in hospital. Shortly afterwards, the five men were arrested.

Two more arrests have also been made, with two suspects on bail for serious offences arrested for housebreaking. The two are suspected of committing several housebreakings this week and were arrested in Fox Hill Road by officers. Both men were wearing electronic monitoring devices.
