PAULETTE Zonicle, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, DC, and her staff have recently opened the first Consulate General’s Office in the US capital.
The office complex is centrally located in the downtown Washington area at Suite 305, 1025 Vermont Avenue NW, Washington, DC.
The new office will provide coverage for 23 states – Alaska, California, North Dakota, South Dakota, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
The functions of the office will be to provide efficient, convenient, support and services to Bahamians abroad for emergency or lost passport processing, visa inquiry and assistance, consular matters for students and other Bahamians.
The consulate also aims to help bring future investment to The Bahamas and “all things Bahamian” for the local community.
“It is a wonderful privilege to have been given the opportunity and the assignment to open the Bahamas Consulate Office in Washington, DC. It has been a mammoth task, yet an exciting and enjoyable experience as much time and labour has gone into what is now a most comfortable and modern-day facility in the best interest of Bahamians,” Ms Zonicle said.
