Waltiea Rolle puts up double double in loss

WALTIEA Rolle is no doubt developing into a dominant player. With less than two months to go before she heads for training camp with the Minnesota Lynx - the current WNBA champions - she still has lots to focus on while in Bulgaria like the upcoming playoffs.

The team suffered a painful loss in the final of the Bulgaria Cup on March 8 when they faced Montana 2003.

In an intense overtime finish, they ended up with a final score of 75-64. Rolle played a total of 44 minutes, putting up another double double game with 15 points, 14 rebounds and four block shots. Having to travel to the city of Tarnovo they had approximately 400 in attendance.

Despite the loss, at the end of the series, Rolle had a strong finish and led in average rebounds of 16. She recorded total match points of - 96, total rebounds - 64, total block - 23, total 2-pointers - 39, total second chance points - 106 and total index of success - 144.

Rolle, clearly the top player of the series, is now looking forward to making the finals at the end of the regular season. Her consistency on the court is proving a plus in her development as an elite player.

Drafted in April with the 36th pick in the WNBA by the Minnesota Lynx, the 22-year-old Rolle opted to travel to Europe to get some exposure to the professional league in her quest to get prepared for the 2014 season for the women’s version of the NBA for men.

While the European League will be completed in April, Rolle will have a short break before she heads to the United States to get ready for the start of the WNBA season in June.
