Industrial Tribunal move close to completion

THE Industrial Tribunal is just weeks away from opening the doors to its new home in Saffrey Square on Bank Lane.

The Attorney General’s office commissioned the renovation of the former courts in Saffrey Square, so that the Industrial Tribunal and its systems could be closer to the other courts as a part of the Swift Justice programme.

According to Petrenda Russell-Brice, secretary to the Industrial Tribunal, the move is more than welcome to staffers who have worked “quietly and tirelessly” in their current location, after having first asked for the move in 1997. Their calls received a major boost when the Attorney General’s office made the move to fund the renovation of the Saffrey Square offices.

The Industrial Tribunal is days away from relocation, according to chief architect Timothy Johnson, of the Ministry of Works.

He said contractor Audley D Hanna and his Paradigm Construction team for delivering quality service in renovations “in record-breaking time”.

Judy Simmons, deputy director in the Ministry of Public Service, said the offices are being properly outfitted to serve the needs of the Tribunal staff to make their work effective and efficient.
