Leon Williams appointed to BTC special adviser role

BTC announced yesterday that Leon Williams has been appointed as a special adviser to BTC chairman Phil Bentley, chief executive of Cable and Wireless Communications.

Mr Williams is a former CEO of BTC and one of the Government-appointed non-executive directors of BTC. As special adviser, Mr Williams will advise Mr Bentley on Bahamian affairs and telecommunication issues in the Bahamas and the wider Caribbean region.

“I am delighted that Leon has agreed to take this role as special adviser on Bahamian policy,” said Mr Bentley. As a former CEO of this business, and a former chairman of the industry body CANTO, he has extensive experience and knowledge of BTC and Bahamian Government policy with regard to communications, as well as a detailed insight into the wider telecoms market in the Caribbean. His contribution will be highly valued.”

Mr Williams added: “I am delighted to accept Phil Bentley’s offer to help with BTC, an organisation for which I have a deep affection. I’m looking forward to working with Phil, the board and CEO Geoff Houston to ensure BTC continues to serve the needs of the Bahamian public.”

In January an MOU was signed, the deal has to be finalized by March 31st. Now. Can any change to overall stock structure at BTC be done without Parliament? Can any change at the Broadcasting Corp be made without parliament? And if the deal has not been tabled how can they meet the deadline in 12 days?

Nothing to do with this story, but can someone explain to me why so many disgraced people end up in such high paying positions in this country?? If one were an outsider you would think that we're a nation of frauds terms and embezzlers
