Williams confirmed as BTc 'special adviser'

The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) yesterday confirmed its former chief executive, Leon Williams, has been appointed as a special adviser to BTC’s chairman, Phil Bentley,

Mr Williams, one of the three government-appointed non-executive directors at BTC, will advise Mr Bentley, who is also chief executive of controlling shareholder, Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), on Bahamian affairs and telecommunication issues in the Bahamas and wider Caribbean region.

Mr Bentley said: “I am delighted that Leon has agreed to take this role as special adviser on Bahamian policy.

“As a former chief executive of this business, and a former chairman of the industry body, CANTO, he has extensive experience and knowledge of BTC and Bahamian government policy with regard to communications, as well as a detailed insight into the wider telecoms market in the Caribbean. His contribution will be highly valued.”

Mr Williams added: “I am delighted to accept Phil Bentley’s offer to help with BTC, an organisation for which I have a deep affection.

“I’m looking forward to working with Phil, the Board and chief executive Geoff Houston to ensure BTC continues to serve the needs of the Bahamian public.”
