Joy FM is 'rocking it for Jesus'

TELEVISION audiences will get an in-depth look into the lives of some of the Bahamas’ most influential Christian personalities through a new show set for launch next week.

The Bahamas’ first privately-owned gospel radio station, Joy FM 101.9, will debut its television show, “Rock It” on March 31 on YouTube.

It will feature leading and new gospel artists, church leaders and groups, and persons committed to rocking their purpose for the Kingdom of God.

The show will tell the story of Christian movers and shakers in the Bahamas and beyond, who are rocking it for Jesus.
Motivational speaker, magazine editor and on-air radio personality at Joy FM, Antonia ‘Toni’ Lightbourne, will be the show’s host.

Viewers can expect to be enlightened and inspired by persons who will be featured, Ms Lightbourne said.

“I will be conversing with your favourite artist, pastor and respected leader in the community to reveal their story to you. Our guests will be persons who are committed to making things happen and thereby rocking their God-given purpose,” she said.

The vision for Joy FM TV and the show emerged from a desire to take the radio station to the next level, said Clover Bonamy, the show’s executive producer.

“Through Joy FM TV the story behind the gospel artist, the church group, pastor or priest, and the Christian mover and shaker will now be revealed. Viewers will get an in-depth look into the lives of such individuals and will hear their story up close and personal,” she told Tribune Religion.

Ms Bonamy said “Rock It” will air in seasons, initially on YouTube on the JOY FMTV channel; thereafter it will air on TV.

“Telling the story of persons who have and are making a difference in our country is very important. We can look at the gospel artist. Through their music he/she tells their story in song of how they got to where they are. When we, the listener, hear their song, we listen to the lyrics and may or may not understand or appreciate the artist’s journey and their subsequent victory,” said Ms Bonamy.

“ ‘Rock It’ will seek to unearth the real reason behind the song of the artist, the life journey of the pastor/priest, and the struggle of the Christian mover and shaker in our community. Each session will engage the guest in conversation relating to their ministry from inception to present. Our guests will give words of encouragement and inspiration to viewers. We will get information for viewers on artists’ CD releases and concerts and any scheduled events planned. Our viewers can rely on us to keep them informed,” she said.

Ms Bonamy said she hopes the stories shared on the show inspire viewers in some way.

“The show is expected to make a national and international impact in the lives of viewers in the Bahamas and beyond. As stated above, respected persons known to viewers will be featured. Their life story will be unveiled,” she said.

Joy FM 101.9 is the first privately-owned gospel radio station in the Bahamas. The radio station celebrated its 10th anniversary last June.
