EDITOR, The Tribune.
When I heard Leslie Miller talking about beating up a former girlfriend, I was disgusted. But I wasn’t surprised. I’m only surprised that he would be so stupid to say it out loud. But I guess in his mind he thought it would be okay.
Many women and men never had much of an opinion of Leslie Miller. Now he’s confirmed what many people really think of him just as many think little of Picewell Forbes who won’t apologise for laughing about a woman being beaten up. Now I wonder why that is?
But I say shame too on Perry Christie. He doesn’t seem man enough to stand up to Leslie Miller to tell him what he said was wrong. He doesn’t seem man enough to defend the women in our country especially those being beaten up by men. Shame on you, Mr Christie. Bahamian women have no friend in you.
Shame on Glennys Hanna Martin. Shame on you for not criticising Leslie Miller for his disgusting words. I don’t care whether you were in the House or not when he made a fool of himself. Since then, you have had plenty of opportunity to say something.
Instead of criticising your colleagues and speaking out, you attacked Loretta Butler-Turner. At least Mrs Butler-Turner has had the courage to speak up which is more than can be said for you and your female colleagues. All of you turned your backs on Bahamian women. You are an embarrassment to us.
Shame on the women in the PLP who pretend to be the friends of Bahamian women when it suits them, but who do not stand up when it counts. I know women who have been abused and beaten up by men. These women have no friends in Leslie Miller, Perry Christie, Picewell Forbes, Glennys Hanna Martin, Melanie Griffin, Hope Strachan, or any of those who laughed at Miller’s statement or who refused to criticise him. Shame on all of you’ll.
