12-member track and field team from COB to compete in Florida

A 12-member track and field team from the College of the Bahamas is off to the University of Central Florida’s Invitational on Saturday in Orlando, Florida.

The team leaves today and is led by Bradley Cooper (field coach) and Mark Humes (sprint coach). COB is expected to compete against colleges and universities from the NAIA, Division II and Division I.

The team is as follows:

Gerrard Burrows, Fredrick Laing, Ashley Oembler, Knastacia Cooper – shot put and discus; Denisha Bagot and Lenardo Romer – high jump; Talbot McKinney – long jump and 100m; Avery Thompson, 110H and 100m; Clarence Major – 100m, 200m and 4x100m; Shaynae Rolle – 100m and 200m; Dominic Collie – 200m and 4x100m and Justin Gray – 200m and 4x100m.

At last weekend’s meet at the University of Miami, four athletes achieved personal bests - Ashley Oembler, (discus), Talbot McKinney (long jump and 200m), Avery Thompson (110H) and Shaynae Rolle (100m).
