THE Rotary Club of New Providence and Rotary International teamed up with the Camperdown Stables to present the 11th annual Horse Show this weekend.

The event, in aid of community projects, gave youngsters who have been practising their equestrian skills an opportunity to show off with their beloved animals and compete for ribbons.

Rotarians came out in strong numbers to support the event, which is not just a horse show, but a family fun day as well. Current president William Wilson said it is a great response and outpouring from the community – all for a charitable cause.

“We at Rotary Club of New Providence have also felt the slowing down of the financial economy in which we are a part of,” he said. “This recessionary period has resulted in most corporate organisations cutting back financially on what was the ‘norm’ to donate.” He said that’s why the eight Rotary clubs in the Bahamas district are charting the course to “offset some of the hardships that these families would otherwise have to absorb”.

Participants in the 11th annual horse show performed walks, trots and canters, as well as jumping a line. They competed in cross rails equitation, short and long stirrups classes.
