Man held after firearm find

A 26-year-old Freeport man was arrested after it was claimed that he was found with a firearm.

According to reports, police acting on information went to the Fawcett Lane area shortly before 5pm and arrested a male resident of Rutherford Circle.

He was accused of having a .380 pistol, with three rounds of ammunition, in his possession.

ARMED ROBBERY

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the Silver Point area on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 10am when a woman was approached by a masked armed man while at her place of employment.

The culprit – described as about 6ft tall of slim built and weighing 150 pounds – was dressed in a black hoodie and tam, with a ski mask and gloves.

The culprit was armed with a knife and demanded cash. He robbed the woman of $1,077 cash and a cell phone valued at $105.

Police are investigating the matter.
