Pastor H Oral Brown prepares for retirement

AFTER more than two decades of serving the Heritage Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor H Oral Brown is preparing to step down as head of the church to enjoy his retirement.

Pastor Brown felt the call of God to start his own ministry 21 years ago, which led him to establish the Heritage Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church.

During the first years, like many men called to do such work, Pastor Brown struggled with the temptation to throw in the towel. But he overcame all obstacles and carried on.

God, he said, was with him all the way. It is therefore expected that history will be kind to him and record him as being successful in ministry.

With an initial membership of approximately 70 persons, to a following of approximately 220 persons, Pastor Brown built his church. He now prepares to retire from active pastoral duties.

Consequently, on April 24, the members of church met to elect a new pastor to replace Pastor Brown, who officially retires in June 2015. This successful candidate is Pastor Franz George.

The electoral process was very cordial as the presence of the Holy Spirit was present, church members said.

Pastor George comes to Heritage fully equipped academically and spiritually anointed. He also brings with him a youthful approach that is extremely necessary for one to pastor a church in the 21st century.

A whole lot of activities relative to the retirement celebration for Pastor Brown are being planned and will commence this June. It will climax in June 2015. It is expected that the retirement celebrations will not only be confined to Pastor Brown’s work among churches, but also his contribution in the field of education.

The secretariat established to coordinate these future activities invites all persons who may have been positively impacted by the ministry of Pastor Brown to come and share their experiences.

“Let us give him his flowers while he is able to see, touch, smell and appreciate them,” the church said.
