Tribune readers grade the P.L.P. government

HAPPY anniversary PLP? Few Tribune readers would wish them so as they made their opinions known after voting in our online poll, with the majority critical of the current government.

‘DillyTree’ had a bleak view of what lay ahead: “At the rate we’re going, I’m not sure there will be anything left to govern by 2017.”

‘B_I_D_’ referenced the leader of the DNA: “I like Bran’s comment ... there is no letter in the alphabet to grade them with at this point ... goes beyond F ... beyond Z.”

‘Arussell’ offered: “I give them an E and hope they will put more Effort in turning this country around!!!! Especially crime!!!!”

‘Sheeprunner12’ gave the government another failing grade: “The government is the people ... we cannot fail. If we fail we will be extinct. The PLP politicians running the government are failing because of ineptitude and lack of direction (“F”).”

‘Honestman’: “A government that is totally rudderless and unable to progress any major initiative. Now we have the DPM stupidly blaming the press for highlighting the country’s woes. This is typical PLP - let us operate in the dark, don’t dare ask us questions and don’t dare shine a light on us!”

‘Banker’ said: “Performance is defined as the action or process of carrying out or accomplishing an action, task or function. Using that yardstick, there has been no performance, actions, task accomplished or functions.”

But ‘Generalcrazy’ called into question the previous administration: “I would only vote in this poll if you start a poll on the FNM’s performance as opposition.”

And finally, ‘John’ offered the government some encouragement: “It is not the matter of inaction on their part but what seems the wrong action or not enough action to complete the many issues they are addressing ... Not to write this government off too soon though. The previous government seem to let the country’s finances get away from them. At least one corporation (BEC) is operating more efficiently and has become more consumer-friendly under the PLP. How effective will an FNM government be without Hubert Ingraham at the helm? Time will tell how successful the agricultural school in Andros will be and if the housing programme will get up and running. Then there are $200m worth of Defence Force craft on order and schedule to be delivered soon.”

Wow, how can the tribune publish this? I don't know what the motivation would be, but a news organization that published a poll without even referencing population size of the survey is below BGCSE standards on referencing self-made or third party polls.

I always hear people say Tribune or Guardian are at either side of the two-party system but I never knew which one. Is this the Fox news of the Bahamas for the FNM?
