52-year-old drowns during visit

FREEPORT - A 52-year-old American visitor to Abaco has apparently drowned while swimming with a group of friends. According to reports, the victim, along with several American visitors, were onboard a vessel travelling from Guana Cay to Hope Town on Sunday around 5pm.

Several men went into the water. One of them reportedly started having trouble and was assisted back onboard the vessel, where CPR was administered. The victim was taken to Marsh Harbour, where EMS personnel were waiting.

The man was transported to the Marsh Harbour Clinic, where a doctor pronounced him dead. Inspector Terecita Pinder said police are actively investigating the matter.
