FRESH from winning season five of NBC’s “The Voice”, Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin will be bringing her talents to the Grand Ballroom stage at Atlantis this Friday.

While many only know her from her memorable weekly performances on the reality TV singing competition, Tessanne is no stranger to the music scene.

She stole the hearts of many music fans with hits such as “Hideaway”, “Broken Melody”, “Someone Like You”, and the most recent, “Anything is Possible”. She has opened for famous acts such as Patti Labelle, Peabo Bryson and Gladys Knight, and toured for three years with Jimmy Cliff.

Anthia Butler, associate director of special events at Atlantis, said the Atlantis Live concert series has always been on the forefront when it comes to bringing rising stars to the Bahamas.

Grammy Award-winning country music singer Kacey Musgraves will take to the stage at Atlantis on Saturday as part of the concert series.

In recent years, Atlantis has brought mega stars such as Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and many more to perform in the Bahamas.

“(Tessanne) was a perfect pick for Atlantis Live. She is an extraordinary artist and she is very talented. Being able to add Kacey Musgraves to the weekend lineup really helped us to create a unique experience for music lovers in both genres as well,” said Ms Butler.

She said Tessanne wins hearts over each time she performs. She said concert-goers can look forward to a full show and an up-close-and personal performance from Tessanne in an intimate setting.

Keeping in contact with Tessanne leading up to her arrival into the country this week, Mr Butler said she can say the singer is very excited about performing in the Bahamas.

“She has captivated audiences from across the Caribbean in the last few months and she is definitely excited that the Bahamas is her next stop. We will be one of the first audiences to hear her newest single, ‘Everything Reminds Me of You’, so that is really special for us,” she said.

Ms Butler said over the years the Atlantis Live concert series has remained an important part of their hotel occupancy and casino strategy.

However, they have developed a strong local following as well. She said Bahamians are excited to see mega acts like the Jonas Brothers, Michael Bubl and Jennifer Hudson come to Atlantis and perform.

“Definitely the cross section of music artists is really important to us and we have seen that grow, and that has captivated our audiences locally. We have a brand new Atlantis Live concept that we will be announcing shortly for the United States of America’s Labour Day weekend, so people can stay tuned for that. We can’t give anything away just yet, but trust us, it will be an amazing end to a fun-filled summer at Atlantis,” Ms Butler said.

“We can tell you that there will be multiple acts in multiple venues throughout the property; indoors and outdoors. We have an incredible partner that will play a big part in the entire event.”

After the Memorial Day weekend with Tessanne and Kacey Musgraves, Ms Butler said their next upcoming artist will be comedian and actor Jay Leno of The Tonight Show fame, which will be the perfect Father’s Day event. He will be performing in the Imperial Ballroom on June 14.
