The first day of the IAAF World Relays saw a stunning victory for the Bahamas in the men's 4x400 heats and a world record for Jamaica in the men's 4x200 final.
The hosts' 4x400 team of Demetrius Pinder, Ramon Miller, Chris Brown and Michael Mathieu stormed into Sunday's final when they finished ahead of Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba.
The Bahamas also made the finals of the men's 4x200, but had to settle for sixth place. Jamaica came first with their world record breaking time of 1:18:63.
In the women's 4x100 B final, the Bahamas finished second to Canada and ahead of Switzerland.
And a disastrous baton exchange in the women's 4x400 led to a sixth place finish for the Bahamas.
The action gets back underway at 5.40pm today with the men's 4x100 heats. Follow it live on tribune242.com.

Go Bahamas! We need more events like this to bring the positive energy back to this country. Maybe a downsized version of the Bahama Games? Put some 'for fun' events in it so the average Bahamian can participate even Go Bahamas!

Agreed............ The cancellation of The Bahamas Games was a big national mistake. It has set our sport development back big time in the Family Islands............. typical Nassaucentric decision
We saw how embarrassing the chirade to put on "one island" races last evening at the IAAF relays.............. most islands cannot even field teams for the relay events ............... thats where we are today in track and field .......... a few competitive schools and private track clubs and NO national program
