NIB executive robbed

A NATIONAL Insurance Board executive was robbed by two armed men as she entered her Coral Harbour home over the weekend, Labour Minister Shane Gibson confirmed yesterday.

V Theresa Burrows, deputy director of buildings and human resources, was held up by the men who drew a hand gun on her and escaped with a silver Honda Accord registered to NIB. Her handbag was still in the car when the men sped away. According to police the incident happened on Friday around 9pm.

Police are also investigating a second armed robbery that occurred the same day.

Around 11pm on Friday, four men armed with handguns robbed a business on Chesapeake Road of an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing on foot, police said.

• In other crime news, investigations are continuing into an incident that saw three men stabbed following an argument outside a Coral Harbour nightclub around 3am on Saturday.

According to police reports, three men were at the club when a heated exchange of words with another man took place. It resulted in all three of them being stabbed in the upper body by another group of men who intervened.

The victims were taken to hospital. Two of the men, police said, are listed as stable while the third man is in serious condition.

Police also reported that 13 people were arrested over the weekend for various infractions. The suspects were taken into custody for various crimes including causing harm; possession of an unlicensed firearm; stealing; fraudulent use of a license disc; armed robbery and firearm possession; breach of the Bail Act; possession of dangerous drugs and outstanding court warrants.
