Bahamas to have strong showing at Gospel Music Marlin Awards

THE hard work of the local gospel community is about to be rewarded during the opening of the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards set to take place in July.

The Bahamas will once again play host to the highly anticipated event that will be held from July 24 to July 27 at the Diplomat Centre in Nassau.

The event is expected to attract a cross section of recording artists, songwriters, producers, engineers, graphic artists, photographers, managers and booking agents from throughout the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, Africa and the United States.

Caribbean gospel artists submitted their latest recordings for consideration and official nominations were released last month in over 50 categories. In addition to the general categories, a number of special awards will also be distributed, including the Life Time Achievement Award, the President’s Award as well as a number of Regional Contribution Awards in honour of several Caribbean gospel recording artists who have passed away since the hosting of the last awards in 2010.

The Marlin Awards are produced by the Harris Media Group, an advertising, marketing and production company based in Nassau.

The Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards will also release a nominee CD in time for the weekend of events. The album will feature 18 of the top nominated singles representing 16 countries participating in this year’s awards.
