SUSPECTED car thieves led police on a high-speed chase through the Marathon area yesterday morning before crashing the car and setting it on fire, police said.
Police arrested one suspect, however, a second man escaped the area on foot.
According to reports, shortly after midnight a man and a woman were sitting in a burgundy coloured Nissan Sentra at Dicks Point off Eastern Road, when two men armed with a handgun robbed them of their vehicle and sped off.
Police were immediately alerted and a short while later officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on patrol spotted the vehicle on Marathon Road. The officers ordered the occupants of the vehicle to stop, but they refused and sped off. A high-speed chase followed resulting in the vehicle crashing at Robinson Road, where two men set the car on fire and fled on foot.
After a short foot chase the officers were able to arrest one of the men, who is a 29–year-old resident of Johnson Road.
The officers searched the vehicle and found a shotgun. Investigations are continuing.
drug arrests
THREE men ages 21, 20 and 19, are in custody after they were arrested on Monday for possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.
Shortly after 8am, officers from the Southeastern Division acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a residence located at Matthew Street in Nassau Village. Police allegedly found a quantity of dangerous drugs packaged for sale.
The three men are expected to appear in court to face drug related charges later this week.
rape suspect held
OFFICERS from the Cat Island District, acting on intelligence, arrested a 46-year-old male resident of Orange Creek for questioning into connection with a rape investigation. Police did not provide details on the suspected rape.

MOBILE Division officers made several arrests in a 24-hour period, including one arrest for murder; two arrests for possession of dangerous drugs; five arrests for outstanding court warrants and cited 14 drivers for various traffic infractions.
Officers from the Southeastern Division conducted a police operation at the junction of Soldier Road and Windsor Place on Monday, citing 56 drivers for various traffic offences.

Can't park up on the beach no more for a little romantic midnight ghost move. These people targeting vehicles. I can't say how many times I have heard of people being robbed while park up on the beach during late night hours. And half the time they don't get reported because the majority of them park up sweethearting...
This country is overrun with criminals....sad sad sad
