AFTER week three of the Commonwealth American Football League, the top teams in the league remain deadlocked with 2-1 records, while the fourth team from the capital finally made their season debut.

The V8 Fusion Stingrays moved to a two game win streak with a dominant 44-0 win over the Kingdom Warriors on Saturday, while the BaOilCo Jets won 28-22 over the Orry J Sands Pros on Sunday.

It was the first game for the Warriors on the season after two previous forfeits.

The Jets’ passing game keyed the team to the win in the only CAFL game this season decided by a single score.

Jets quarterback Philmon Rolle finished with four touchdowns three passing and one rushing.

The Jets went right to work on their first possession after a botched snap on a punt placed them in the redzone.

After a pair of penalties on third down kept the drive alive, Rolle rushed into the endzone on a quarterback sneak for a 6-0 lead.

They would add another score before on the ensuing possession when Rolle connected with Jamaal Butler who turned a short pass into a long gain and touchdown after he eluded several defenders in the open field.

After a successful conversion they led 14-0.

The Pros’ offence finally responded when a run heavy drive was capped by a Jamaal Coleby rush from three yards out to trim the deficit, 14-6.

Coleby finished with three rushing touchdowns on the day.

The Jets opened the second half with an 80-yard scoring drive, nearly all through the air.

Rolle connected with Wilson on a swing pass out of the backfield which he took for more than 40 yards and a 20-6 lead.

Faced with a two score defect once again, the Pros would engineer a scoring drive when Davaughn Bain caught a deep pass play to put his team in the redzone.

Coleby would score his second touchdown on a short yardage run and Phillip Moxey Jr would catch the conversion to bring the Pros within a single score, 20-14.

Pros defensive end Eugene Bain would catch an interception on the very next play following the kickoff return to give his team momentum and the chance to go ahead.

Coleby’s third score would tie the game and a successful conversion would give the Pros their first lead of the game, 22-20 headed into the fourth quarter.

in the fourth, the combination of Rolle and Butler connected once again in the corner of the end zone for the go ahead score late in the fourth.

The Jets’ defence sealed the win on the final two possessions to cement the team’s first win over the Pros in four years.

The Stingrays, Jets and Pros are all deadlocked with 2-1 records while the Warriors are 0-3.
