Wendy’s (Bahamas) yesterday said it was aiming to add another restaurant location in 2015, as it expands the franchise even further.

Christopher Tsavoussis, president of Wendy’s (Bahamas), told Tribune Business: “We have more store plans for Nassau and Freeport. That’s going to be our next expansion before we go to the Out Islands.

“Next year for sure we will have another store popping up. Out Island expansion really depends on the population. As the populations grows in certain areas, it’s definitely something we would look at.”

Wendy’s (Bahamas) last month completed construction of its $2m flagship restaurant on Pioneer’s Way in Freeport. A delegation of 100 Wendy’s Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) franchisees and operators this week toured that property and the dual drive-through restaurant in Carmichael as part of a regional meeting of franchisees.

Speaking to the dual drive-through concept, Mr Tsavoussis said: “You can’t find one acre sites everywhere you want to go, and you find that the market would really like a store.

“I think we found the best of both worlds where, if we can’t put a full blown store in, then the next best thing is to put one of these units in. It’ s economical and efficient, it runs better, it’s an efficient unit and we are very pleased with it; it’s on a much smaller footprint.

“The build-out is much smaller and yet it has every menu item that any typical Wendy’s would have.”

Mr Tsavoussis said the dual drive-through outlet on Carmichael Road west cost 50 per cent less than other Wendy’s outlets to construct, and has provided a great return on investment to date.

“We have always just focused on our business and try to do the best job we can do. We are not perfect; there is always room for improvement, and so as long as you realise that and keep at it every day, I think all the other things take care of themselves,” said Mr Tsavoussis.

“We do have very busy units. We focus on our throughput, with taking care of the customers, their experience, taking care of the product they’re receiving and also the service. That is what we focus on and that has worked very well for us.”

These Greek boys not only know lots about good greasy food but they also know just who to keep greased in their business arrangements ..... and many of us might be surprised to learn the identity of the necessary politically well connected one behind all of their entrepreneurial success! Put some extra Greece on those burgers and pizzas boys!
