Financial industry honours 3w2 persons

THE Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) honoured 32 persons for their contribution to the industry’s growth and development at its 14th annual Excellence Awards Dinner.

The 32 represented nominees in the categories of ‘Executive of the Year’, ‘Mentor of the Year’, ‘Professional of the Year’, ‘Achiever of the Year’, and ‘FSI Student of the Year’.

It also included the previously-announced Lifetime Achievement Awardee, the Mentor of the Year, and the ICON Working Group which was recognised for financial services development and promotion.

Also presented was the Minister’s Award, recognising a candidate selected by Ryan Pinder, minister of financial servicves, for outstanding support to the sector’s sustainability.

Aliya Allen, the BFSB’s chief executive, announced the first ever ‘BFSB Appreciation Award’, which went to Julius Baer Bank & Trust (Bahamas) for support to the BFSB. and its development and promotional activities – historically and ongoing.

Senator Allyson Maynard-Gibson, the attorney-
general, told the awards 
ceremony that the Government recognises the 
Bahamas’ success is linked to the second pillar of our economy.

“The Bahamas’ greatest asset is its people.

“People (human capital) are vital to the success 
of financial services,” she said.
