Woman, daughter and son injured in drive-by shooting

A WOMAN, her teenage daughter and son were treated in hospital after they were injured in a drive by shooting Friday evening.

According to police, the woman, her son and daughter were standing in front of a home on Kim’s Crescent off Baillou Hill Road when the occupants of a black Nissan Maxima and Silver Nissan Teana armed with shotguns fired several shots at the group before speeding off. The woman was shot in her lower back, her son was hit in his ankle and her daughter was shot in her upper back.

The incident occurred around 7pm.

The victims were rushed to hospital by an ambulance where at last report they were listed in serious, but stable condition.

Police did not provide the ages of the victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

In other crime news,  police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who robbed several women of their handbags on Friday.

According to reports, shortly after 7pm, several women were at a residence located at Young Street off East Street, when a man armed with a handgun robbed them of their handbags before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are continuing.
