Three-hundred and fifty students from Baha Mar’s Leadership Development Institute (LDI) graduated from the largest class in its history on Wednesday.
The graduates have been offered jobs at the $3.5 billion resort development, and will become the latest ‘citizens’ to join Baha Mar nation.
Among the graduates are five students with Intellectual and Developmental Disorders (IDD), who joined the LDI through a partnership with Best Buddies International.
Best Buddies International was founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver in 1989, and is committed to assisting with training and creating integrated social and employment opportunities for people with IDD.
Baha Mar’s chairman and chief executive, Sarkis Izmirlian, congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments so far.
“Always remember this moment, the beginning of this great adventure and the start of your career in hospitality at Baha Mar. You have earned a place in the Baha Mar Nation. Your hard work and dedication will prove that the Bahamas can not only compete on the world stage, but be at the very top,” Mr Izmirlian said.

some of those youngsters told me they were not offered jobs, they were "placed on a waiting list"
