Cybots nip Wreckers, Rebels beat the Caribs

THE Mail Boat Cybots and the Rythm Rebels had to hold off their rivals for close victories Wednesday night at the AF Adderley Gymnasium as the New Providence Basketball Association’s regular season continued.

In the opening game, last year’s runners-up Cybots outscored the Y-Cares Wreckers 104-101 and, in the feature game, the Rebels held off the College of the Bahamas Caribs 70-68.

Cybots 104, Wreckers 101

Eugene Bain, inserted into the starting lineup, exploded for a side high 23 points with 17 rebounds and five assists to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Mail Boat in 21 minutes and 20 seconds on the court.

Ernest Saunders helped out with 17 points and four assists, Jeremy Hutchinson had 10 points and 12 rebounds, Delano Knowles and Cordero Seymour both had 10 points with four rebounds and Lerecus Armbrister and Ahmad Bootle both chipped in with 10 points.

For Y-Cares, Lorenzo Carter came off the bench and in 22:27 minutes, canned a game high 24 points with two rebounds. Tavares Roker had 21 points, two rebounds and two assists, Mario Pickstock had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists and Omerka Watson had nine points with four rebounds respectively.

Rebels 70, Caribs 68

In 32:34 minutes, Devonn Brennen canned a game high 28 points with nine rebounds as Rythm picked up a win. Deangelo Duncombe scored 15 points with five rebounds, Kramer Taylor had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Williams finished with nine points and 10 rebounds.

For the College of the Bahamas, Reuben Goodman pumped in 21 points in 24:59 minutes. Justin Smith helped out with 15 points and eight rebounds, Justin Munroe had 13 points and six rebounds and Alvano Laing had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

• The NPBA will take a break for the Thanksgiving weekend, returning to the court on Monday.
