Special Olympics Bahamas swim programme comes to a close

SPECIAL Olympics Bahamas (New Providence) recently brought its 2014 local swim programme to a close after four months of training.

Sessions were held at the Queen’s College pool under the supervision of the Barracuda Swim Club. Executives and coaches of the Barracuda Swim Club remain unwavering in their commitment to assist the Special Olympics Bahamas swim programme.

Special Olympics swim coaches Jeanine Lee, Trevor Rolle and Keith McLean were all very proud of the progress of the athletes and are extremely excited about taking the team to Grand Bahama to participate in the Special Olympics Bahamas Grand Bahama Swim Championships.

Special Olympics Bahamas (an accredited programme of Special Olympics Inc.) is a volunteer driven, non-profit organisation that provides year round sports training and competition for adults and children with intellectual disabilities (ID).

Next up on the competition calendar for the swim programme is the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games (LA 2015) that is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles, California, July 25 to August 3.

Persons interested in either volunteering their time or making a financial donation to Special Olympics Bahamas may contact the programme’s national director Amanda Moncur at 323-4669 or 323-6000 or 477-0304.
