GRAND Bahama Police have arrested a man and seized a large quantity of cash that he had in his possession at the Grand Bahama International Airport, police reported yesterday.

Drug Enforcement Unit officers made the arrest around 4:30pm on Thursday in the airport terminal, where they searched a man who was allegedly discovered with $12,119 in cash. Inspector Terecita Pinder, press liaison officer, said the man could not give police officials a satisfactory account of how he came to be in possession of the money.

She said the money, which is believed to be proceeds derived from criminal activity, was seized, and the man was taken into police custody.

Police also discovered 9mm bullets in a grocery bag that was found in Freeport on Thursday. Officers of the Eastern Division, acting on information, went to an area in Coral Gardens around 10am where they discovered and collected a small plastic grocery bag, containing 10 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Investigations are continuing into both matters.
